FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Serving Bowmanville, Durham Region & the GTA

Do I need flowers for my ceremony and my reception?

Not necessarily — but florals are often what transform a space from “nice” to unforgettable.

For ceremonies, flowers frame the moment. Whether it’s aisle arrangements, a floral arch, or statement pieces at the altar, they create a focal point and elevate your photographs.

For receptions, florals bring warmth, cohesion, and atmosphere to your tables and head table.

If you’re working within a budget, we can strategically design pieces that can be repurposed from ceremony to reception to maximize impact without doubling your investment.

How much do wedding flowers usually cost?

This is one of the most common questions we receive as a wedding florist in Bowmanville and Durham Region.

Wedding flower budgets vary depending on guest count, floral priorities, seasonality, and overall design vision.

As a general guideline, we recommend setting aside 10–15% of your overall wedding budget for florals. If your vision includes lush, Pinterest-inspired, statement designs with abundant blooms, we suggest planning for 20–25% of your total budget.

Most of our couples invest between $3,500–$7,500 for their wedding flowers, though some choose to spend less or allocate more depending on their priorities and overall aesthetic. At the end of the day, your celebration should feel like you — beautifully reflective of your personal style and vision

For a more detailed breakdown, we’ve created a helpful guide:

Do I need a theme or vision for my day?

No — but having a general feeling or colour direction is helpful.

You don’t need to know flower varieties or design terminology. Most of our couples come to us with a Pinterest board or a few saved photos.

Our role is to interpret your inspiration and translate it into a cohesive, intentional floral design that reflects your venue, the season, and your love story.

How do I ensure my wedding flowers stay fresh throughout the day?

We prioritize premium, long-lasting blooms and design with seasonality in mind.

We also:

  • Consider weather conditions (heat, wind, cold)

  • Provide care instructions where needed

  • Deliver florals as close to ceremony time as possible

  • Use hydration techniques and professional floral mechanics

When properly handled and installed, your flowers will remain fresh and photo-ready throughout your celebration.

Is there a minimum budget or spend?

Yes & No. For  intimate wedding orders that you are willing to pick up at the store, there is no minimum spend.

For our full-service wedding floral design, our minimum investment starts at 3,000 for simple set up w/ delivery and 5,000 for full set up w/ a dedicated floral designer on site for ceremony installations.

This allows us to provide the level of thoughtful design, premium blooms, delivery, installation, and coordination our couples expect.

If you’re planning a smaller celebration or elopement, we’re happy to discuss scaled-down options based on availability.

How far in advance should I order my wedding flowers?

We recommend inquiring 9–12 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season (May–October).

We do accept bookings closer to the date when availability allows, but popular dates in Durham Region and the GTA fill quickly.

Once your venue is secured, it’s a great time to reach out.

What are the best flowers for a wedding bouquet?

The “best” flowers depend on the season, your colour palette, and the overall style you’re envisioning.

Some popular wedding bouquet flowers include:

  • Garden Roses

  • Peonies (seasonal)

  • Ranunculus

  • Lisianthus

  • Calla lilies

  • Dahlias (seasonal)

  • Sweet peas

Rather than focusing on one specific flower, we recommend prioritizing texture, movement, and colour harmony to create a bouquet that feels timeless and elevated.

What real brides are saying about us...

My husband and I used Aspen Florist for our wedding and we could not have been happier! Lisa is amazing to work with - always quick to respond to any questions and she clearly cares about getting it right for her clients!! She is very organized and sends pictures of the exact flowers and decor items she is planning on using and attaches image examples of the colour scheme so you can very easily visualize it and reference it when looking into other decor, bridesmaid dress colours, etc. This really helped a ton! The flowers and arrangements on our wedding day were absolutely beautiful - Lisa nailed the vibe and colour scheme we were looking for and we got tons of compliments! We got a flower arch as well for our ceremony and it was stunning. Her team then dismantled the flower arch after the ceremony and brought it to reception to decorate the head table with it - it was perfect! We are getting our wedding flowers preserved so we'll be able to enjoy them forever. Don't hesitate to book Aspen Florist - Lisa and her team are top-notch!! Nikki
