Love is not Cancelled
Dear Aspen Family....
First and foremost, I’m just checking in to see how you're all doing? I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy, if you are facing difficult times right now please know you are not alone. We’re all in this together and there is light at the end of the tunnel, love will prevail, that much I am sure of.
My heart aches for all of you who are making tough decisions and postponing your weddings, to those who are still waiting to see if your date will be impacted, and those of you who are going ahead with very intimate elopement style ceremonies and holding off on the larger celebrations with vow renewals.
Several of you have reached out and rescheduled your weddings with more and more of you contacting us with each passing day. Some of you have moved to next year & some have put a hold on a back up date just in case, so you've got your plan B.
There is no one size fits all but we want you to know, we're here for you.
I also want to thank you all for being so amazing, there are no words to describe how much I appreciate your care and concern for what we’re going through as we navigate the challenges of Covid-19 in our business and the floral industry.
A question we’re all asking ourselves right now is where do we go from here?
On Monday our Premier laid out a roadmap to reopening the province. This roadmap did not include a calendar of events so we’re left with even more uncertainty in regards to what our gatherings will look like. The decisions before us would be so much easier if the facts were just laid out for us all in a clear and concise manner but sadly that has yet to happen here.
So what do we know thus far in regards to the restrictions?
Our gatherings are still restricted to 5 people
Our number of new cases must continue to decrease for 2 weeks before the government will begin to reopen Ontario gradually with stage 1. Each phase will be 2-4 weeks in length and up to the discretion of the Chief Health Officer.
Physical Distancing remains in place for all three stages (our new normal)
In regards to destination weddings & out of town guests, all non essential travel is still prohibited. You can follow Canadas Travel Advisories HERE.
Dr. Theresa Tam stated this week the Canada - US Border will remain closed until we get our own house in order.
When non essential travel resumes, we will have to self isolate 14 days when we return home.
There are 3 stages to reopening the province that are listed HERE in case you missed it.
So now what?
Please know that we’re here to accommodate. In 2019 I made the decision to take on less weddings this year so we could have more time to be with our families. Well, who knew that decision was blessing in disguise, it is allowed me to help our clients in this unprecedented time.
The decision that I made in order to spend more time with my family has been fulfilled thanks to Covid-19 quarantine and I have more availability to accommodate your rescheduled wedding dates in late 2020 & throughout 2021. We can take one large or up to 2 mid size weddings a weekend, if physical distancing is still enforced, I'll be creating all of these weddings on my own. I would recommend you find at least a few dates to choose from at different times of the year so we can find a date that coincides with your entire vendor team.
My only concern is the longer we wait the less availability your venue and vendor team will have, which might push your rescheduled date back even further. If you have not yet made a decision to postpone your event, Ottawa recommends that we continue to evaluate the risk of event planning using their risk assessment tool.
We have also stopped booking new consultations until further notice so we can give our 2020 brides top priority in selecting new dates. Whenever you're ready, we'll be here to support your plan B.
Sending love and virtual hugs to you all, feel free to email me anytime. xx
